Things I read when I should be grading
An article by Clay Shirkey. I like the parallels with gin and the industrial revolution. Maybe that is because I am a bitter, elitist college professor clinging to Marxism, Guns, and Secular Humanism.
I firmly believe that some of the cognitive surplus is best used baking tasty pastries and cookies. I like what he has to say. Watching too much tv is a waste of time. And I may only be saying that because it is too darn hard for me to sit through most tv shows, but there are a lot more interesting things people can be doing, like making stuff.
I am a history professor, living in a smallish city on the Upper Mississippi. I teach history at a state university. I like my colleagues and my students and that is why I have a great job.
The opinions, ruminations, and misguided observations expressed in this web log do not represent the views of my current employers or anyone else I am tangentially affiliated with.
I will try not embarrass my family and friends, but they know me better than that.
